What does he look like? (Section A 1a-2c)
Type of lesson:Listening and Speaking
Period:1 period
Teaching process:
1. Leading-in
Students are encouraged to describe themselves by using one adjective. The teacher can give an example by describing himself.
2. Presentation
Show some pictures of people’s appearance and present the corresponding new words in this lesson.
3. Practice
Then pictures of some famous singers and actors are presented and students are supposed to match adjectives of appearance to each person.
4. Consolidation
Students are supposed to write 3 to 4 sentences to describe one of their classmates or a famous person. Then, students will read their description and other students can have a guess. The one who get the right answer can read his description.
5. Summary
Students are guided to review the adjectives learned in this unit. The teacher will remind students not to hurt others’ feelings by using inappropriate adjectives to describe their appearances.
6. Homework
Try to find a picture of a famous person you like and write a description of him or her appearance.
